Is a goal where we want to get or where we want to come from?

"The goals that people usually set are meant to bring them more than the actual experience of the goal". What does this mean?

Ivan explains that behind the desire for, a new life partner, a new job, a more meaningful life, is an emotion which is unfulfilled.

Your goals become a reality when you identify and understand your "why".

Here are a few important "why" questions to answer:

  • Why do you want to lose weight?
  • Why do you want more intimacy?
  • Why do you want more income?
  • Why do you want to change jobs?
  • Why do you want to become more active?

I believe the reason you want these things is deeper than you think. Once you discover your "why" you'll be unstoppable.

When you uncover why you do what you do you'll know your driving purpose in life. Combine your purpose with actions and you create the momentum you need to make your dreams come true.

Keep asking yourself why? I've actually heard that you should ask yourself "why you want a particular thing" for up to seven times!

According to Ivan you'll come to one conclusion: You wish to feel better!

So, if you find out what the need is that you're lacking and you fulfil that, you won't need the original goal.

In other words, if you want to feel safer, happier, more fulfilled the outer goal which you're pursuing, will not bring you that feeling.

The benefit to fulfilling your inner feeling will allow the goal to manifest much more easily. The struggle and effort to achieve it will melt away as you begin attracting what it is you really want.

The outer goal won't give you the happiness you seek.

My understanding is that a goal isn't a place to get to, but rather a place to come from. So rather than pursue a new relationship to find happiness, start showing up as a happier person today. Start behaving in the way you would like others to behave.

Our beliefs are never neutral; they either move us forward or hold us back. When we believe we can have what it is we want and we live it, we remove the struggle and the pain and draw what we really want towards us.

In Ivan's words "Be Do Have " Be the person who can achieve the goal, do the actions and then receive the rewards.

As Mahatma Ghandi so wisely suggests, "Be the change you wish to see in the world" At times when things look bleak and hopeless, get into action and become someone more loving, kinder and generous.
