Sean Douglas has created a successful life by living by this statement, "Say YES, then figure it out!" Sometimes we need to first make a commitment and then take a leap of faith.
When you say, no, you close yourself off to new opportunities and possibilities.
When you say YES, it opens your mind to receive new information. This is known as a growth mindset rather than a fixed mindset.
How do we get to an open mindset when we have fears and doubts clouding our minds?
According to Sean, fears kill more dreams than anything else. So, one way he recommends moving beyond your fears and doubts is by having a gratitude habit. This means being thankful in the moment or as Sean likes to say, "hunting the good stuff" . Keep asking yourself, what's good about this??
Once you say "yes and what do I need to do?", you might find that the task ahead is really easy for you.
You're entitled to say no if you've figured out that you really can't do it, but the ability to say yes or no determines your entire mindset.
Your fears offer you the opportunity to create strategies to manage the obstacles. Your beliefs about whether you can do something or not are never neutral. They either push you forward or hold you back.
If you want something more than you want to be held back by your fears, you'll find a way. Your creativity will kick in to assist you.
Goals are dreams with a deadline. Break them down into manageable non scary steps that you can do every single day to move yourself forward.
How badly do you want to achieve this goal? What's the ONE thing you can do today to move towards that goal??
